For an unforgettable skyline experience these school holidays, keep an eye on the Melbourne Star, one of Melbourne‘s most iconic landmarks, now on track to spin again in 2026.
Melbourne Star is the tallest observation wheel in the Southern Hemisphere, standing 120 metres tall, equivalent to a 40 storey building. Its seven pointed star design has made it a defining feature of the Docklands skyline for over a decade.
What’s New? Melbourne Star recently switched its lights back on for the first time since 2021, marking the biggest visible step yet in its return. The relit Star runs on an entirely new lighting network, capable of full colour animation and synchronised sequences the original system never had. A standout highlight is the full-lighting animation sequence that debuted at the switch-on, timed with a fireworks display over Docklands. Passenger operations are set to follow in 2026.
